Today we live in a technological world where access for pretty much anything we need is a click away.
Recovery from substance use is a process and throughout your journey it is important to have multiple resources at the ready to help you when need arises.
Whether it be searching for like-minded connections, traveling and trying to find a local meeting nearby, to an inspirational message to encourage you on the rough days or even a daily tracker to remind you how far you have come.
Keeping track of your accomplishments will help you to see progress. Utilizing apps on your phone or other device will offer reinforcement and accountability on a daily basis.
Below is a list of apps that our clients have found helpful in their recovery.
Sober Grid
Sober Grid App is a social network that enables you to connect with other people who are struggling with addiction. You can create your only personal profile with the option to remain totally anonymous. The App also features a sobriety calculator to track your progress.
Sober Time- Sober Day Counter
Utilizing a sober time counter helps many to remain accountable and stay on track by being able to see your progress. This App offers a sober tracker, a sober community, daily devotionals and messages. Some unique features are it tracks the money you saved, allows you to set goals and celebrate milestones in your recovery.
Twenty-Four Hours a Day
The Twenty-Four Hours a Day Book from the Hazelden Foundation is a classic compilation of daily meditations for people in recovery. The Twenty-Four Hours a Day App offers those messages for free. You can bookmark and share your favorites messages with friends and family.
Meeting Guide
If you are new to AA, looking for a different meeting or traveling and trying to find an AA meeting near you. The Meeting Guide App allows you to enter your location and search for a meeting in your area. We always recommend trying out different meetings to find a meeting that works for you.
Sober Tool
The Sober Tool App offers a full range of features to assist you in your recovery journey. It has a sobriety calculator, daily messages, a community forum, a search engine, sobriety game and journaling to help keep you on track.
Although none of these Apps are a substitute for treatment and/or AA meetings they are helpful to fill in the gaps when you can’t get to a meeting or connect with a healthcare professional.
These apps should not be a substitution for seeking help from professionals. They help keep you on track and act as an enhancement to your treatment and recovery progress.
