INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM
What is the Difference Between the IOP & OP Programs?
When someone looking for help can’t stop their lives altogether, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) allows individuals to receive support, education and recovery services while maintaining work schedules and home life. IOP provides intensive substance abuse treatment four evenings/week while working with your schedule.
Outpatient Program (OP) is part of a step down in care from the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), meeting only two evenings each week and focusing on skills, tools and strategies that can be used in real life situations.
Different than inpatient care where patients live in a care facility, both types of outpatient treatment allow our patients to live at home and use the skills they learn at treatment in real time - in their normal life, rather than in the bubble of inpatient treatment. Patients are able to use skills and strategies immediately in their lives rather than waiting until they are discharged to see how they work.

Aftercare & Alumni Program
Care Addiction Center believes in a strong continuum of care that will foster lasting recovery after you have completed outpatient treatment or a program from another substance abuse facility or drug and alcohol treatment center.
In our Aftercare Program, patients will be able to remain connected and accountable in a lower, more flexible level of care. Groups are didactic format which promotes healthy discussions while continuing to support your recovery.

Alumni Program is an ongoing, supportive recovery group for individuals who have completed a substance abuse rehab program and have already participated in 6 months of an Aftercare Program.
We understand that what individuals deal with after completing addiction rehab is different in the first 6 months or few years than what individuals deal with 3 to 4 years after completing an addiction treatment program.

What Does IOP Mean?
IOP is short for “intensive outpatient program.” Outpatient treatment provides more freedom and flexibility than inpatient rehab, but without sacrificing quality of care. While inpatient programs require clients to live on-site, individuals in an IOP travel to an alcohol & drug treatment center a few times a week for sessions, then return home.
Why is it Considered Intensive?
There are different levels of care in which patients can be treated. As per ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) Level 2 or Intensive Outpatient program is a level of care that is more "intense" than regular outpatient, but is a step below and not as intense as partial hospitalization. IOP programs are 9 hours or less per week whereas inpatient treatment or partial hospitalization levels of care are higher in terms of treatment hours per week.
What is the Difference Between an Inpatient and Outpatient Facility?
Inpatient treatment refers to patients living or residing in a facility for typically 30-90 days. Outpatient treatment clients reside at home in a safe environment for their addiction treatment services.
How Long Does IOP Last?
IOP provides intensive treatment four evenings/week while working with your schedule. With thirty treatment sessions total in our IOP program, that means treatment lasts for six weeks. After IOP treatment, patients will be able to remain connected and accountable in a lower, more flexible level of care with our aftercare program.
Is Group Therapy a Part of IOP?
Yes, group therapy is a part of IOP. Group therapy means having other people encourage, support and challenge you while discussing topics like coping skills, triggers and more. This group of peers likely understands your particular struggles better than maybe even friends and family.
Is IOP Covered By Insurance?
Yes, if you have an insurance policy, your treatment is most likely covered. Because every situation is different, and so are the providers and coverage, it’s important to find out how much rehab care is covered by the policy and in what circumstances.
We recognize that addiction insurance coverage and benefits can be complex. Find out if your insurance covers drug & alcohol rehab by clicking here for a no cost, private insurance approval.
